About the Authors
Montell and Kristin Jordan have spent decades encouraging families to build strong marriages, deepen their faith, and create lasting legacies. As bestselling authors, speakers, pastors, and founders of Marriage Masterpeace, they have devoted their lives to helping people discover God’s design for healthy relationships and purposeful living.
But before any of those titles, they are simply Mom and Dad.
Like every parent, they’ve experienced the bedtime fears, uncertain moments, and heartfelt conversations that shape childhood. One of those moments with their son, Skyler, became the inspiration for Shilo the Brave.
When Skyler was convinced there was a monster under his bed, Kristin gently asked a question that changed everything:
“Buddy… what if the monster under your bed is actually afraid of you?”
In that moment, his perspective shifted. Fear began to lose its grip. Years later, that simple conversation became the seed for Shilo—a lovable friend who helps children discover that bravery isn’t the absence of fear; it’s choosing courage, one brave step at a time.
Today, Montell and Kristin are passionate about helping children build emotional resilience, confidence, and a lasting faith in God from an early age. Through Shilo’s stories, animated adventures, affirmations, and family resources, they hope to equip parents and caregivers with practical tools to help children navigate life’s everyday challenges with courage and truth.
Their vision extends far beyond a series of books.
They believe that when children learn to pause, breathe, talk to God, remember what’s true, and take one brave step, they’re building habits that will serve them for a lifetime.
Because the fears we face as adults often begin when we’re young—but so can courage.
Whether speaking to thousands, mentoring couples, or reading a bedtime story, Montell and Kristin share the same mission: to help people of every age experience God’s love, live with purpose, and choose brave every day.
Welcome to the world of Shilo the Brave.
We’re so glad you’re here.
